Microlise shortlisted for Motor Transport Award in Innovation Category

Microlise is delighted to be shortlisted for the Motor Awards 2019 for innovation for our Driver Hazard Warnings app.

With more than 2,000 bridge strikes each year in the UK, millions of pounds are lost by hauliers and the wider economy. Microlise’s Driver Hazard Warnings (DHW) product combines innovative new data science techniques with what we believe is potentially, the most comprehensive bridge database in Great Britain.

DHW is an app available to all hauliers regardless of whether they use Microlise telematics products. The system runs in a non-obtrusive way on a mobile device in a driver’s cab.  The system recognises the height of the vehicle being driven and audibly warns drivers of low bridges and of narrow and weak roads, on approach.

The Driver Hazard Warnings application addresses a major issue for the road transport industry – one that is costing hauliers and fleet operators millions of pounds each year, as well as impacting on the wider economy due to delays caused through bridge strikers.

The DHW is just one element from a suite of Microlise products designed to deliver tangible safety benefits and improved operational outcomes.

Winners of the Motor Transport Awards 2019 will be announced on 3 July 2019.
