MAN Truck & Bus UK partnered with Microlise in 2008, after an extensive search for a long-term telematics partner. The UK operation, run from its Swindon headquarters, was looking to offer a MAN telematics solution to its customers that would deliver additional return on investment in the form of driver and vehicle performance information.
In order to improve fleet utilisation, whilst increasing safety and driver performance, Nationwide Platforms were looking for a telematics provider that would understand the issues faced by the business. Agility was a key issue, with customers demanding access to products at short-notice, as was achieving a reduction in operating costs.
In 2011, transport operator Brit European embarked on an ambitious strategy to tackle the post recession market. Rather than scale back, the company launched its Environmental Efficiency Project – a bold plan to use equipment design, aerodynamics, technology and staff training to reduce its environmental impact and increase operational efficiency. Since then they have also adopted dual fuel vehicles, running on both diesel and compressed natural gas.
