Microlise maintains critical installation & field support during Covid-19

Ensuring the safety of employees and customers has been top of mind at Microlise as we have continued to deliver essential engineering support services to our customers during the current COVID-19 crisis.

Despite the pandemic, Microlise field staff made 50% of ‘normal’ service and install visits during April, when compared with figures in February, which represents 100% of service demand across our customer base. Some activity was also at near to normal monthly delivery levels – making us, if not the only telematics provider, then one of very few, to offer on-site installation and servicing support during this period.

Whilst many other providers use third-party installation providers, Microlise employs a network of engineers across the UK, who specialise in the installation of Microlise telematics, vehicle cameras and in-cab hardware – while being ably supported by our dedicated production and service centre teams.

Field work has presented some unique challenges during this period but there has probably never been a more crucial time to support the on-site hardware and servicing needs of our customers, many of whom work across both pharmaceutical and F&B suppliers, including 14 of the top 15 retailers in the UK.

This has been balanced by an absolute imperative to keep our team and the customers they come into contact with safe. The fact that the field team is a dedicated company one and through prompt action, we were able to deploy PPE equipment and introduce strict hygiene and behavioural protocols from the outset which has resulted in a healthy and responsive team in the field who have maintained an exemplary response and work rate.

For organisations who are working across the supply chain, Microlise solutions manage planning & optimisation, tracking and delivery, providing real-time communication capability, task allocation, workflow management and proof of delivery information. This is particularly useful in cases where organisations are scaling-up operations at speed, and are relying on third-party contractors or agency workers and need to manage them as efficiently as possible.

Microlise has also provided asset tracking and communication solutions free of charge to frontline public sector and not-for-profit organisations including the Nottingham City GP Alliance, who are performing home visits to test suspected Covid-19 patients and the Volunteer Bikers Group Northern Ireland who are delivering critical supplies to the NHS, Care Homes and to vulnerable members of the community who are shielding.

I’d like to thank our production, service centre and field teams for doing such a great job in very challenging circumstances.
