Microlise Outlines Incredible Growth in Data Collection at Big Data London

Microlise Product Director Stephen Watson and Data Architect Wayne Chandler have addressed a packed auditorium of data scientists and IT experts at Big Data London 2018.

The pair, who have been integral in developing Microlise’s Big Data capabilities, were invited to London’s Olympia to speak in the Data-Driven LDN theatre.

Big Data London is a two-day combined conference and exhibition focusing on how to build dynamic, data-driven enterprises. Microlise were guests of Cloudera and presented a real-world case study aimed at helping delegates to understand how value can be driven from successful data projects.

Speaking to more than 200 attendees they addressed the journey Microlise has been on with Big Data & Artificial Intelligence in transport & logistics. In the 30 minute session, Stephen and Wayne covered the incredible growth in data collection Microlise has achieved. They spoke about the challenges of handling and processing 22 billion vehicle data points in the UK alone in 2017 and the need for the work to provide positive and valuable outcomes to Microlise customers and the broader transport & logistics industries.

They then spoke about some of the projects Microlise has been engaging on and the power of the tools available, covering the technology and skills journey that Microlise has been on as a business in getting to our current position.

Delegates at Big Data London were able to take away several insights, understanding the lessons Microlise has learned along the way that might help other organisations starting out on their Big Data journey. One attendee even told Cloudera the talk had been “the best presentation that they had seen over the two days”. Another said it was “”refreshing to have a really honest story” .We hope to see you again there next year!

At Microlise we’re constantly on the lookout for talented data scientists to join our growing team.
