Our first Industry Report has landed.
We’ve just published our first ever industry report, Standing at the Crossroads: A Crucial Moment for UK Logistics, and the findings are eye-opening.
We spoke to 250 transport and logistics managers across the UK to better understand the pressures they’re under, the tools they rely on and the changes shaping our industry in 2025.
The result is a clear and often stark picture of a profession that’s under growing strain – where manual work, fragmented systems and sustainability pressures are making it harder to stay competitive.
Manual work is still holding us back
One of the most surprising things we uncovered is how much time managers still spend on manual tasks, particularly around proof of delivery (POD) documents. On average, they’re spending 1.7 hours per day on this kind of work. That adds up to more than £51,000 per year in lost productivity for each business.
And it’s not just about cost. Manual processes are affecting customers too. Around 70% of the managers we surveyed said they’d had customer complaints about issues like illegible handwriting on delivery notes.
Integration and efficiency gaps are widening
When we asked about transport management systems, fewer than 40% told us they were using a fully integrated, ‘all-in-one’ platform. Those using multiple systems described a range of challenges, from communication breakdowns to data visibility issues. We’ve captured those in more detail in the report.
It’s clear there’s still a big opportunity for businesses to streamline how they work; and to unlock the performance gains that come with greater integration.
Technology, AI and sustainability need attention
Our research also looked at how prepared the industry is for the future. While AI is being talked about across the sector, uptake remains limited. And when it comes to environmental performance, there’s cause for concern: more than 60% of the managers we spoke to said they aren’t using any technology at all to monitor fleet emissions.
Those who are tracking emissions tend to be using isolated tools or ad-hoc methods, not a joined-up strategy. With government targets to reduce emissions looming, that’s a risk many can’t afford to ignore.

Why should you read this report?
We know that being a transport or logistics manager is a demanding role. You’re balancing real-time decisions, long-term planning, customer expectations and stakeholder demands every single day.
We commissioned this report to help shed light on what’s really happening on the ground, and to offer practical recommendations that businesses can act on. Because for those ready to innovate, there’s a real opportunity to drive change and get ahead of the competition.
As our CEO, Nadeem Raza, puts it: “This report is a vital resource for any operator still relying on old ways of working.
“Our industry plays a critical role in the UK’s economic growth. By embracing new technologies and working smarter, we can not only keep up – we can lead.”
