The Challenge
Coup de Pates, a supplier of a wide range of products including pastries, bread, desserts, snacks, and ice creams to culinary professionals (bakeries, restaurants, hotels, caterers, etc.), upholds three core values: Proximity, Excellence, and Passion. Its ambition is to provide 100% of the ingredients for a quality relationship, based on mastery and trust.
With distribution in France, Belgium, and export activities, efficient management of its distribution and fleet of 200 vehicles (heavy and light vehicles) is essential to maintain high performance for increasingly demanding customers. It was crucial for Coup de Pates to harmonise and standardise delivery processes for all drivers, and to be more agile and responsive with its customers.
“The project was initiated with the goal of addressing our five strategic pillars for 360° growth : team and organisational performance through the integration of new employees, training, and the development of versatility; brand and solution development through quality service; cost optimisation related to our delivery routes; CSR challenges by optimising working conditions and supporting teams, as well as reducing our carbon footprint; and digital transformation through paperless communication, real-time tracking, and all the potentials yet to be deployed.” – Gaëtane Delacroix
The Approach
To address these challenges, Coup de Pates chose Microlise’s last-mile delivery management solution. This decision was based on a thorough analysis of logistical needs and a precise specification document led by the Group’s logistics managers.
“We chose Microlise as a partner for several reasons: its response to our specifications, the autonomy and flexibility of the solution, and the scalable vision with the ability to add complementary modules that fit our business.” – Gaëtane Delacroix.
The Journey Management tool allows teams to live-track journeys and delivery compliance for an instant view of any issues. This enables them to notify customers and quickly resolve non-compliance issues.
The 230 drivers were equipped with Zebra rugged mobile terminals, simplifying and standardising delivery processes across all platforms. The data collected via the SmartPOD and DPM (Driver Performance Management) mobile apps not only enable precise tracking of deliveries but also allow for the analysis of driving behaviours with the aim of improving performance in terms of safety and environmental impact.
The implementation project was efficiently managed thanks to strong involvement from Coup de Pates and Microlise teams throughout the project, including transition support, active communication at all project phases, individual and group training at each site and strong solidarity among teams from different platforms.
“Nantes’ platform volunteered for a 4-month pilot phase. This helped fine-tune settings and gauge drivers’ acceptance of the change. We quickly realised that the system was intuitive for both drivers and operators. Once this phase was validated, all sites were rolled out.” – Nicolas Verron, Deputy Logistics Manager at BOUL’PAT ATLANTIQUE.
The Result
The implementation of Microlise’s fleet management solutions quickly yielded positive results for Coup de Pates. Standardising logistics processes facilitated team collaboration, the integration of new drivers and overall operational efficiency.
Isabelle Daviaud, Logistics Manager at BOUL’PAT ATLANTIQUE, added: “We’ve also become more attractive in our recruitment efforts.”
Furthermore, increased responsiveness to customers and quicker dispute management has enhanced customer satisfaction and Coup de Pates’ reputation in the sector.
“It’s also a management tool that provides factual data, allowing us to debrief with our drivers after their routes.” - Isabelle Daviaud.
This is the first step in Coup de Pates' digital transformation, with further developments to be implemented, such as delivery validation through mobile terminal scanning and complete digitalisation with electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) sent to customers. Microlise has the solutions necessary to drive Coup de Pates’ business further.
An internal study conducted by Coup de Pates one year after the launch of Microlise solutions found that 96% of operations staff and 73% of drivers reported that the tool was beneficial for their work.
