Why transport needs to accelerate its journey to Net Zero
Today, on International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, we’re reminded of the urgent need to take collective action to safeguard our planet’s future. For us, this is not just about marking an awareness day, but about driving real change within the transport and logistics sector.
The challenge ahead
Our recent industry report, Standing at the Crossroads: A Crucial Moment for UK Logistics, found that one in three transport managers are uncertain about how to achieve net zero requirements for their fleets by 2050. While 38.5% of respondents said they knew the path forward, many admitted they had only partial clarity.
The good news? Every transport operator surveyed recognised the importance of sustainability, though some are further along the journey than others. This shows that the will is there – the next step is to bridge the gap with action and innovation.
Where to begin
Tracking emissions is the essential starting point for any transport operator serious about reducing environmental impact. With technology now able to reveal long-term trends, optimise vehicle utilisation and improve route planning, the tools exist to make drastic reductions in emissions today, not tomorrow.
But there’s also a cost to inaction.
Our research showed that manually processing proof of delivery (POD) documents is costing companies an average of £51,000 per year and 1.7 hours of employee time each day. By digitising these processes, transport managers can free up resources to focus on sustainability, compliance and operational efficiency.

No longer optional
Our CEO, Nadeem said, “Awareness days such as International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, combined with the government’s commitment to achieving net zero by 2050, make it clear that reducing emissions is no longer something that is ‘nice to have’. It is now an essential process.”
And while the deadline is getting closer, it is not too late to start the journey. By analysing fleets today and making small adjustments, operators can begin to simplify what may seem like a daunting challenge.
Our commitment
As an organisation, we are dedicated to helping transport managers and operators take the practical steps needed to achieve their sustainability goals. From emissions tracking and optimisation to full logistics management, we provide the solutions to make net zero achievable.
International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is a reminder of what’s at stake. Together, we can ensure our sector plays its part in protecting the environment for future generations.
