Hitting Men’s Mental Health for Six

Microlise sponsor The One Day Test in aid of men’s mental health charity, The Jordan Legacy.

On Sunday 22 June, all eyes in North Yorkshire will be on the Hemingbrough Cricket Club where The One Day Test is taking place.

In aid of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s mental health, cricket players, fans and supporters are coming together for 10 hours of non-stop cricket! It’s the Hemingbrough Cricket Club XI up against the Microlise World XI, the aim is to play a full test match is just one day.

But so much more than a day of cricket, the event features live music, family activities and great food and drink all day. There are also mental health talks, a silent auction and a Q&A session, creating a relaxed and open forum to discuss mental health and help break down those barriers.

#TeamMicrolise

Microlise are proud sponsors of the day, and we hope our £5,000 contribution will go some way to help support The Jordan Legacy’s aim – to reduce the frequency of deaths by suicide by improve mental wellbeing in society and business.

Charlie Brackley, Head of Account Management at Microlise, has been heavily involved in the organisation of the day, and standing side by side with other members from Team Microlise, he will be dusting off his whites and leading Microlise World XI on the day.

Charlie said, “What started as a small, slightly mad idea has grown into something truly powerful. I’m incredibly proud of what The One Day Test is looking to achieve and even prouder that Microlise is standing behind it as a sponsor. Men’s mental health is a subject that is close to my heart, and a topic I actively champion and voice amongst my team.

“Whilst the theme is a serious one, the day promises to be a fun-packed day, suitable for all ages and a great way to come together as a community to support some of these bigger issues at stake.”

Show your support

The One Day Test is free to attend, welcoming individuals and families to join in a day filled with sportsmanship and support for a very worthy charity.

Mental health affects 1 in 4 people, yet too many, especially men, still find it difficult to reach out for support.

Through this event, the aim is to raise £15,000 to support two important causes:

  • The Jordan Legacy, a suicide prevention charity dedicated to providing support, resources, and initiatives to prevent suicide and help those affected by it.
  • Hemingbrough Cricket Club, to help build new facilities that support the local community, providing a space where people can come together, stay active and benefit from the camaraderie that cricket brings.

More than just a game!

With lots of activities happening throughout day including kids’ events, food stalls and live entertainment – plus all that cricket! – there’s plenty to see and get involved with.
