At the Microlise Transport Conference, telematics platform provider Microlise has announced the launch of Driver Performance Management (DPM), a mobile application running on both Android and iOS devices that delivers increased driver engagement with telematics, whilst at the same time reducing management resource requirements.
The DPM mobile app is designed to achieve improvements in driving style, by empowering drivers with the information and insight required to understand and improve their performance. Drivers can access detailed information, any time, in any location, collected through the Microlise telematics device, and understand their performance across a range of criteria, including in the context of their team or organisation.
In addition to an overall grade, based on a range of time periods, drivers can drill down further and are provided with a grade across key performance indicators, such as speeding, idling and harsh braking. Within each category, drivers are provided with advice to improve their performance, and can access a list of where any infringements occurred. The ability to view the location of each infringement on a map is also available.
“Providing drivers with the information they need to understand and develop their performance can only increase driver engagement with telematics,” said Matt Hague, Executive Director – Product Strategy, of Microlise. “With the DPM mobile app, drivers can access this information at any time in any location, and are not limited to being presented with reports when they arrive back at a depot or transport office”.
In addition to increasing driver engagement, the DPM app includes team leader functionality, where managers can view the performance, location and status of drivers within their team. DPM provides a report on drivers, listed by performance grade, which allows management by exception, where debriefing or training is delivered only when required.
Where such training is required, the Microlise Knowledge Portal provides an online platform for the delivery of training content. The Knowledge Portal, which also captures training progress of each registered user, provides targeted campaign based training in multiple formats in the form of training courses, videos and quizzes.
“The aim of the DPM app is, in addition to increasing driver engagement, to help support the reduction in management overhead in terms of managing by exception,” continued Hague. “The app is ideal for larger fleets where reducing management overhead and managing by exception will drive real business benefit, but also is ideally suited to situations where management may not see drivers or remote workers for extending periods of time.”
