Microlise has introduced a new standardised decommissioning policy for hardware
The process is designed to make the delivery of Microlise products and services as seamless as possible, particularly when vehicles are changed
within a fleet, reducing administration, and making life easier for our customers. Here we explain some of the benefits of this new approach.
What is a Hardware Decommissioning?
We are often asked to remove hardware from vehicles that are being taken out of service, sold, or are no longer required. An engineer from, or representing Microlise, will remove this equipment on-site. The kit that is removed can then be refurbished and reused in other vehicles in line with our Environmental, Social & Governance Policy (ESG) which aims to maximise recycling of our hardware products.
You can request a copy of our ESG Policy by emailing salesoperations@microlise.com
How much does a Hardware Decommissioning cost?
Decommissioning depends on the hardware products that are being booked for de-installation. The cost of an engineer’s visit will depend on the amount of hardware to be de-installed.
What’s happened to the Order Portal?
In order to streamline our service offering, use of the Order Portal has now been discontinued.
Can I perform my own Hardware Decommissioning?
If you decide to manage your own de-installation, all Microlise hardware will need to be removed with care and sent back to us. On receipt, hardware will be checked and a credit raised. Where hardware has been damaged, the buyback amount may be adjusted accordingly so it is important to handle this process with care.
Why are there no buyback option for things like camera lenses?
Camera lenses and cables are classed as consumables so are often left in-situ on vehicles. The buyback options available are offered on hardware items that can be repurposed and that will not leave unsightly holes in bodywork when they are de-installed.
How do I arrange for a Hardware Decommission?
Simply contact our sales operations team with the following information, and we’ll do the rest:
- Vehicle details inc. VIN and registration number
- Level of hardware to be de-installed
- Level of de-installation (if required)
What’s happened to the Rekit option?
Rekits have been removed as these are now covered under our standard installation order process.
How do I place an order for Installation?
Simply contact our sales operations team with the following information, and we’ll do the rest:
- Vehicle details inc. VIN and registration number
- Hardware required
- Installation required
Can a Decommissioning and Installation take place on the same day at the same location?
Yes it can. We will need information relating to both vehicles, to ensure we have the appropriate cable kits available, and vehicles will need to be available at the same time.
How does this process make life easier for me?
It gives customers the option of refreshing and updating hardware as they upgrade their fleet. This means that there is no time limit placed on installation across new vehicles, where the old dekit/rekit process had a 12 month time frame for rekits to be completed.
What about new vehicles I am adding to my fleet, in addition to current vehicles?
Where you are increasing the size of your fleet, simply place a new install order.
When you have information to hand, simply contact our sales operations team with the following information, and we’ll do the rest:
- Vehicle details inc. VIN and registration number
- Hardware required
- Installation required
