Ten intrepid Microlise cyclists are busy training and raising sponsorship for an epic Cycle Malawi challenge in support of Transaid. The demanding five-day journey will see them cover over 500km, starting in Senga and taking in Lake Malawi, Mount Mulanje, Liwonde National Park and the Zomba Plateau in September 2020.
This initiative is part of the company’s employee-led, Community Engagement activity which sees the Nottingham-based telematics business, support numerous community and charity groups at home and abroad.
Microlise Event Manager and Transaid Ambassador, Andree Ball, is an experienced rider having participated in Transaid’s Challenge Zambia in 2018 when a Microlise team of eight raised in excess of £40,000.
‘Safety in transport is a topic that is central to our business. Conditions in developing countries are not always all that they could be, and we can help by raising funds for Transaid, whose interventions make a very real difference.‘

‘Malawi holds a special place in our hearts as it was the location for our first cycle challenge back in 2006. Since then, we have worked hard to improve access to healthcare and driver training programmes with our latest initiative in Malawi centred on the bicycle ambulance, which provides a simple but effective lifesaving mode of transport.’
Founded by Save the Children and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Transaid has been transforming lives through safe, available and sustainable transport in 23 countries for over 25 years.
Microlise has been a Corporate partner of Transaid since 2015 and has been using its telematics and transport management expertise to support Transaid projects, with its staff also spearheading fundraising activities throughout the year.
