Travis Perkins Deploys Microlise Electronic Proof of Delivery Solution to Track Customer Promises

Travis Perkins plc has selected an electronic Proof of Delivery (ePOD) solution from Microlise, operating on Android, for a new rollout on over 2,150 devices across its delivery fleet.

The builders’ merchant operates 20 businesses across the UK and owns 19 separate brands within its portfolio. The rollout is part of an ongoing strategy to deliver On Time In Full reporting functionality to track where and when promises are not being met, in order to deliver an improved experience to customers.

The ePOD solution is paperless and designed to provide complete visibility of deliveries. All activity is tracked via the solution, through features such as barcode scanning, sign-on glass and image capture, with the goal of improving delivery accuracy, reducing paperwork and returns, and lowering management overhead.

“Following deployment, the new Microlise Proof of Delivery technology has been positively received by our delivery staff and drivers,” said Mark Blackburn, Travis Perkins Programme Manager. “As well as providing consistent paperless tracking of deliveries, it also works with our route planning tool to optimise fuel consumption and reduce environmental impact. The objective is always to improve the experience for our customers and this deployment is a first step in our larger business strategy of continued development.”

The new implementation is being utilised by several of Travis Perkins’ businesses and brands, including Keyline, CCF, Benchmark and CPS. The combined fleet, operated by these various businesses, comprise vehicle types ranging from vans right up to large heavy goods vehicles.

“Travis Perkins has a rich and lengthy history in the UK and we are proud to be working with them. Our ePOD solution will ensure significant detail about every single delivery, also providing easy accurate access for office-based staff, as well as delivery teams who are on the road,” said Nadeem Raza, Chief Executive Officer of Microlise.

The Microlise ePOD solution will operate on Zebra Technologies’ TC55 pocket-sized Android rugged mobile computer. Features of ePOD also include task management, driver communications and access to site notes and manifest information.
