One of the benefits of working for Microlise is that we try and give you the best access to training, through our comprehensive training catalogue, in house classroom based sessions, or online.  That’s why we’ve teamed up with LinkedIn Learning, to give all employees the opportunity to develop their skills while on the move.  This all forms part of the Microlise Learning and Development Academy, and it is accessible to both new and existing employees.

Lots of organisations, particularly tech-based businesses, talk about how they develop their employees to ensure they stay at the top of their game, when in reality it’s about ordering pizza, and working back-to-back night shifts to hit deadline after deadline, with no real room for any study or development. In the end this only results in one thing; total burn-out.

At Microlise, our approach is different.  Yes we need every employee to hit deadlines, put in longer shifts when required, and sometimes burn the night oil. But we also want employees to reach their potential, and to be the best that they can. This can only be achieved if employees have the opportunity to develop themselves, and to be developed. LinkedIn Learning gives our employees the ability to download their content and listen to it at a time that is suitable for them.  With most of the content delivered in manageable chunks of 30 minutes or less, you can take your learning to a whole new level.

So what have our team been up to in the last 90 days on our learning platform?

Users have covered subjects that range from Big Data, Web Application Development, Angular, Personal Development, Leadership, Agile Methodologies, Telematics, .NET, ASP.NET, Software Development Life Cycle, Prince2, Sales and Marketing, Product Design, Supply Chain Management, to Test Driven Development.

For our Software Engineers – Apprentices through to Solution Architects – there is a structured set of career related training, which links directly into our promotional boards.  This gives all of our engineers (regardless of position or job title) a clear and transparent career pathway, linked directly to learning on the LinkedIn platform. Furthermore, additional training can be gained via our in-house courses and programmes, supported by online tuition, mentoring and coaching. And, as you’ll note from the sheer diversity of the courses people have engaged with, it’s not just our technical staff who are accessing online learning, it’s a resource that is being used across the whole business.

So… anyone for Pizza?
