Five years ago this month, Microlise signed up as a Corporate Supporter of UK-based international development organisation, Transaid.

It’s a partnership we are extremely proud of and through it, many of our team have involved themselves in challenges and activities big and small, from taking part in cycling trips in South Africa and Zambia, to selling raffle tickets at industry awards or simply baking cakes for the office.

Transaid was formed by HRH The Princess Royal, Save the Children and the CILT, and works to put transport infrastructure in place across the developing world, where it is needed the most. One of Transaid’s most famous projects is its bicycle ambulance scheme, which transports pregnant women and others in need of medical assistance, to medical facilities which can be many kilometres away.

Transaid also runs projects to train drivers to improve road standards, and focuses on healthcare with its malaria-focused initiatives having an incredible impact.

We’ve really enjoyed working with Transaid for the past five years with many of the Microlise team experiencing truly unforgettable and hugely rewarding fundraising events in awe-inspiring locations. One such trip to Zambia in Africa saw us field a team of eight cyclists and raise £40,000 in the process. We have a team of ten now poised and ready to take on another gruelling cycling challenge in Malawi in 2021 where we’ll doubtless see again at first- hand, the very real impact that Transaid has on local communities.

Thank you to everyone at Transaid – we love working with you. It’s a real privilege to play a small part in the work that you do!
