Recruiting and retaining the right people, in the right roles, has become a business-critical issue.

Traditionally, recruitment has relied on CVs to identify candidates with the right qualifications. Relying on CVs simply isn’t an effective way to do business anymore. In today’s workplace, people need to be flexible, resilient and be willing to upskill during a career that will shift in line with new technologies and market forces. The recruitment space is adapting to keep pace.  A prospective candidate, armed with multiple degrees, won’t necessarily be the right person for a job. When it comes to hiring a new employee, not everything you’ll need to know about them can be found on a CV.

Experience isn’t always necessary if what you’re actually looking for is fresh and innovative thinking. A structured, educated, disciplined mind is of value in any organisation, because knowledge and experience can be added to these building blocks. At Microlise, some of our highest achievers are the graduates we have trained.

When we recruit people, we look beyond CVs for the complete package. And sometimes, it’s those hard to detect personality traits and characteristics, that will make or break a hiring decision. For successful candidates, we provide ongoing training and development across some of the most sophisticated platforms available plus mentoring support from some of the keenest minds in the software engineering and development space. New starters will also get to work with helpful and approachable people – from senior leaders down – they’ll co-manage the speed and trajectory of their career, and sit within a diverse and talented team.

While our vacancy list may advertise entry, intermediate or senior level developers, we are often level agnostic – we are always looking for switched on team players at any stage of their career. We don’t always expect someone to have relevant experience (because some of what we do is highly specialised anyway) and we don’t need someone who thinks they have all the answers – all of the time.

A questioning and positive mind set, and motivation are key – as is a sense of humour.  Our staff stay with us for a long time, and a lot of that is due to how we test ‘fit’ at interview stage – from a candidate’s perspective as well as from ours.

Microlise people need to feel right – and that’s something that a CV can never hope to communicate. If you feel that you’d enjoy being a part of the Microlise team – check out our live vacancies
