About Jamie
Hi, I’m Jamie, and I’m the Sales Development Representative (SDR) Manager at Microlise. I joined six months ago, and I can genuinely say I’ve loved every minute.
I’ve had a unique career journey that led me to where I am today. From a young age, I was intelligent and personable but often distracted and disinterested in subjects that didn’t capture my attention — something that later made more sense following a diagnosis of ADHD. What I did know early on, however, was that I thrived in conversations and loved connecting with people.
At 19, I landed my first sales job at Phones4U. When I found out I could earn commission, I was all in — I made £1,000 in my first month, and that’s when I truly got the sales bug.
Over the years, I worked across different sectors and companies – from contact centres to brands like WorldPay, GoDaddy, and Adzooma. These experiences helped me build both sales skills and leadership capabilities through team management.
After taking a year-long break to reset and refocus, I was ready for the next big step in my career. That’s when I came across the opportunity at Microlise. When I researched the company, I saw a Nottingham-based business with strong values and an exciting role on offer — so I applied immediately.
Joining Microlise
From my very first conversation with the Head of Marketing, I felt energised. He was down-to-earth, relatable, and genuinely inspiring. That initial connection made me want the job even more.
The interview process was smooth and well-structured. I spent a lot of time preparing for my presentation because I was determined to make an impression. I also met the Head of Account Management and, later, the Chief Revenue Officer during a values interview. Each conversation made me more confident that Microlise was where I wanted to be.
My first day at Microlise set the tone. I was welcomed warmly by my manager, my team, and another new starter who joined the same day. It just felt like a natural fit from the beginning.
There’s no “typical day” in my role. Some days are structured — working on Salesforce processes, optimising cadence, and refining lead tracking. Other days are collaborative — building scripts with the team, running coaching sessions, and removing blockers so my SDRs can thrive.
My goal is simple: to build a strong foundation that empowers the team to do their best work and drive customer growth for the business.
Highlights so far
The Go-To-Market event at The Belfry was a fantastic experience. The content was engaging, the guest speaker was inspiring, and even with ADHD, I was fully immersed throughout — a real testament to the quality of the event.
The Microlise Transport Conference has been another major highlight. During my first week, I had the opportunity to attend a taster evening at Coventry Arena, which gave me an early glimpse into the scale of the event. Later on, I attended the black-tie evening itself, which felt surreal. Seeing the level of planning and execution that goes into making the conference a success gave me a whole new level of respect for the company.
The Marketing team is, without a doubt, my ultimate highlight. I genuinely look forward to coming into work. The culture is positive, collaborative, and full of energy. Seeing my team thrive, hitting our targets ahead of schedule, and hearing their positive feedback makes it all worth it.
