What is National Pet Day?

Every year on 11th April, pet lovers around the world come together to celebrate National Pet Day, a special occasion dedicated to raising awareness about shelter pets and encouraging pet ownership. Today is about shining the spotlight on our furry and not so furry friends.

Pets whether big or small, cats or dogs, rabbits or guinea pigs, lizards or snakes all have an incredible ability to increase our happiness, provide us with unconditional love, warmth, companionship and sometimes a good laugh at their humous antics.

By celebrating National Pet Day, we are acknowledging the unique and wonderful bond humans and animals share.

Meet Some of the HR Team’s Furry Friends!

Shout out to Chloe, Recruitment Assistant, for adding in her hamster Elmo into the mix of playful cats and dogs!

Can you spot whose pet is who – some of the team were kind enough to share some insightful quirks about their beloved furry friends;

Jackie Mitchell, HR Director is the owner of 4-year-old Basil – “He is very well-behaved golden retriever, until he’s naughty. His favourite things are eating, playing, being chased and getting muddy. He dislikes baths and showers. Sometimes he likes to test random objects for nutritional value, like leather gardening gloves or boxer shorts. Every day we have fun with our Basil, despite trips to the vets to deal with what he has eaten we love him immensely.”

Helen Naylor, HR & Wellbeing Specialist cats Poppy and Milo – “both enjoy listening to Anyone Can Fall in Love by Anita Dobson, and when they  fancy a change up, they switch across to the Eastenders theme tune.”

Hannah Hughes, Head of Recruitment owns 18-month-old Millie – “she is a duck chasing Taylor Swift fan, her favourite song is ‘Ready for it…’ She enjoys a glass of pooch wine, just like her mother, who is also partial to a pooch wine!”

Emma Moulds, Senior HR Business Partner is the owner of  a 7 year old Cavapoo named Bailey – “he is very calm and chilled, loves a good snore on the sofa, a run around the park and is partial to stealing dirty socks!”

Gemma Williams, Head of HR Operations is the owner of Bertie and Buddy – “Bertie the Beagle is a grumpy boy who loves to sleep and bark at every person who comes onto the street. Buddy the Labrador has a lot of love to give and loves ripping stuffing out of all his toys. They both love Chicken and Cake in equal measures!
