Content comes in all shapes and sizes. From blogs to videos, reports to case studies, it’s my role to bring Microlise to life through content.

The challenge – and the fun part – is creating meaningful and engaging stories that connect with the reader. And in our fast-moving digital world, where more content is being consumed than ever before, competition is tough!

So, we try our best to communicate with our customers, colleagues and partners in a way that brings knowledge, delivers insight and voices expert opinions – but always in a down-to-earth, friendly way, aligned to our values.

About Me

I’ve been working in the wonderful world of marketing, communications and events all my professional working life. The majority of this has been in B2B marketing, so businesses talking to other businesses. It’s a challenging space, but I think that’s what makes it so rewarding. It pushes you to work harder and think more creatively: turning the everyday into something exciting, and the complicated into something simple.

Alongside work, I am Mum to two young boys so it’s a constant balancing act, and a mad rush to get us all out the house on time. But my job also gives me a space that’s just mine – a place to create, collaborate and hopefully have an impact.

And behind it all is purpose. Every piece of content I create is about showcasing the real-world impact Microlise has too.

A Typical Day

There’s nothing like a well laid plan. I start my day by checking out our all-seeing Comms Plan. Everything we do is laid out so we can see what we’ve completed, what we’re working on and what’s coming up.

Whether I’m in the office or working from home, there’s always a meeting or two where we can chat, collaborate and share what we’re working on, so I always feel connected to the wider team.

The flexibility is great, being able to work from home can be a real blessing, especially when there’s a deadline to hit or I need a quiet space to write. I can also take my kids to school or catch the all-important sports days and nativities. For me it’s really great to work for a company that respects my priorities outside of work too.

Top 5 Faves

Not sure if it’s just a marketing thing, but I love a list, and I love a top 5! So, here’s my top 5 reasons why I love my job:

1. My Team

These guys bring the energy! Whether it’s in the office, on Teams or when we get the chance to go out together for drinks or food – the Microlise marketing team are such a fantastic group! We work hard but we have a giggle along the way.

2. The Variety

After all, it is the spice of life. No two weeks are the same. Alongside my regular tasks, we’re always flexing from one project to the next, which keeps things fresh.

It also means I work with people from across the business – from HR and Recruitment to Finance, Account Management, Product and Facilities. I love meeting people, and Microlise has given me the chance to explore different departments, learn from what they do, and bring those insights into my content.

3. The Pace

I love being busy and ticking things off my list. I can be working flat out on an awards entry and then the next day, we’re sending an editorial off to press, then we’re launching a new campaign or planning for our big Microlise Transport Conference – it’s all go! And I truly love the speed, especially when you take a moment to see the sheer quantity and quality, of work we produce week-on-week.

4. Getting Out & About

Within my first few months I’d already been to Liverpool to meet our PR agency, attended our GTM Kick Off in Birmingham, and enjoyed a team day out in Nottingham. Microlise creates so many opportunities to get out, meet people, and build connections beyond your day-to-day role – and I love that.

5. A Business to be Proud of

When your job is to tell the story of a business, it’s so much easier when you believe in what you’re saying. Since joining Microlise, it’s been clear why both staff and customers stay with us. The people, the culture and the values are such a great fit for me, and I feel proud to share this story with others every single day.
