Following on from the success of the inaugural National Lorry Week in 2015, the RHA are once again running the campaign this year.
Taking place between the 19th and 24th September, National Lorry Week 2016 will carry the theme of “The Next Generation” and seeks to raise awareness of the vital role played by the transport industry in everyday life, whilst focusing in particular at young people who may be attracted to a career in logistics.
The RHA are offering to support any members looking to run events in their local areas and a member pack of information is available via the RHA website.
A range of activities are planned, including:
During the week, a national programme of “Think Logistics” presentations will be run. The RHA is asking members to support this in their local areas by delivering the Think Logistics presentation to young people in local schools across the UK.
There will be a parliamentary event to take key messages from the industry direct to Government and highlight the issues facing operators, such as the skills shortage and issues around driver safety at Calais.
A national competition aimed at young people in schools and colleges will also be run as part of the week’s programme.
