1,000 delegates expected to attend the largest road transport conference ever held in the UK
The agenda for the Microlise Transport Conference, taking place on the 20th May at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, has been announced ahead of what will be the largest conference dedicated to road transport ever held in the UK. After attracting over 600 delegates in 2014, the event looks set to welcome over 1,000 delegates this year, along with over thirty industry exhibitors and sponsors.
The Microlise Transport Conference programme is designed to help transport professionals reduce operating costs, improve operational efficiency and enhance service levels, through engaging and informative sessions delivered by industry bodies and leading transport operators. A 4,000 square metre exhibition area supports the conference programme, featuring industry associations and suppliers.
Industry lobbyist and journalist Quentin Willson returns as conference chair, and will deliver the conference opening and welcome address.
The keynote session will be delivered by Richard Burnett, Chief Executive of the Road Haulage Association (RHA), who will give a state of the nation on the road transport industry, as well as talk about the RHA and his plans for the future of the organisation.
Other highlights include Caroline Hicks, Head of Enforcement Transformation at DVSA, who will deliver a view on the next generation of enforcement, and how industry can work with DVSA to enable a reduction in the burden of administration for compliant operators. Goodyear will be represented at the conference for the first time, with Aljosa Sitar, Manager – Proactive Services, discussing ‘going proactive in tyre related sales’ and explaining how telematics enables a transformation from ‘reactive’ to ‘proactive’ tyre management.
Speakers from the FTA, Transaid, Brit European, Nationwide Platforms, Aston University and Alloga (formerly Unidrug Distribution Group) complete the line-up.
Another first this year sees the launch of the Microlise Driver of the Year awards, which are being supported by the RHA, the University of Nottingham and MAN Truck & Bus UK. The awards are based on data collected by Microlise from over 90,000 drivers, with The University of Nottingham’s Advanced Data Analysis Centre analysing anonymised data to produce a shortlist of 45 drivers across three categories. The RHA will select category and the overall winner, based on this data and employer questionnaires – both of which will be anonymised for the judging process. Transport Charity Transaid is being supported at the Microlise Transport Conference, with Gary Forster, Chief Executive of the organisation, addressing delegates to introduce the charity and its work in Africa in terms of development projects across the continent. Transaid will also be represented in the exhibition area to allow delegates to learn more and understand how their organisations can get involved.
Over 900 delegates have already registered to attend the conference this year. Delegate places are still available and registration can be completed through www.microliseconference.com.
