Traffic Commissioner’s for Great Britain and the DVSA have worked together to launch a new online service to apply for and manage operator licences.
The new online service is replacing the existing Operator Self Service System which is now nearly 20 years old.
“We wanted to change the system, because we recognise that the old system isn’t very user friendly. We want to encourage operators to do things digitally and transact digitally with government and with us,” said Kevin Rooney, Transport Commissioner.
Existing users of the old system will be able to log in with the same username and password as before. Initially the site will be going through a period of testing and improvement, guided by user feedback.
According to the gov.uk website operators will be able to apply for a licence and manage existing licences by adding more vehicles, applying to increase vehicle limits and applying to add a transport manager.
This sounds like a great idea to us and an important way to make the process more efficient.
