Over the last week I have been at The Big 5 in Dubai – quite possibly the world’s largest construction exhibition; certainly the biggest in the Middle East.
Together with some colleagues I’ve been manning the MAN Truck & Bus Middle East stand and talking to hundreds of prospective new customers about EcoStyle, the next generation telematics solution launched in the region by MAN this week, based on Microlise telematics.
We also joined the many MAN importers from the region at a briefing event held in a secluded location in the desert near Al Ain. Here we launched EcoStyle and its ability to give management visibility, driver performance and safety improvement alongside increased utilisation to deliver a reduced total cost of ownership.
It’s been great to hear from managers in the region about their needs and what they’re most interested in. There is a much greater emphasis on improving driving standards and increasing the longevity of tyres and other vehicle components; rather than focusing on fuel reduction as the primary goal.
More than three decades old, The Big 5 has been running since the 1980s and during that time there has been large-scale growth leading to a boom in demand for trucks in the Middle East. With 3,000 exhibitors from over 65 countries you could really feel the scale of demand.
We already have a longstanding relationship with MAN Truck & Bus UK and so this is an extension of our successful partnership. EcoStyle is all about improving driving standards, reducing vehicle wear and tear, enhancing safety levels and improving vehicle health, as well as reducing overall operating costs, emissions and fuel usage. As such, we’ve worked closely with MAN to base EcoStyle on the Microlise Fleet Performance product.
With the Middle East truck market showing signs of continued growth – we are glad to be teaming up with one of the leading manufacturers in the region with this launch.
