Ford to Launch Long-Haul Truck in Europe

Ford will launch a new long-haul truck at IAA in Hanover in September, which will go head-to-head with existing competition in Europe, Commercial Motor has reported.

On the CM website Emrah Duman, Ford Director of International Markets, is quoted as saying: “There will no longer be seven sisters, there will be eight. And we have ambitions to enter all the markets that they are present in.”

The company has apparently been developing the vehicle for five years and it will not look anything like Ford’s smaller Cargo offering.

According to CM, Ford Trucks in the middle of a huge export drive and is in the process of expanding its global distribution network with expectations for 50% of its sales to come from Europe by 2020.

The article does however say that there are no immediate plans to create a right-hand-drive version of the vehicle.
