Following recent amendments to Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements, operators are under growing pressure to keep pace. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">68% of respondents say their drivers feel undervalued by the public<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. This points to a disconnect between public\u00a0perception\u00a0and the essential role drivers play in keeping the country&#8217;s supply chains moving.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;48323&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; onclick=&#8221;custom_link&#8221; img_link_target=&#8221;_blank&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221; link=&#8221;https:\/\/hello.microlise.com\/en-au\/inbound\/industry-report-1-2026-np&#8221;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Why do Australian fleet operators feel more confident about compliance than they are?&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h4|text_align:left|color:%23152644&#8243; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;]<div class=\"ult-spacer spacer-6a88bee8a76c1\" data-id=\"6a88bee8a76c1\" data-height=\"10\" data-height-mobile=\"10\" data-height-tab=\"10\" data-height-tab-portrait=\"\" data-height-mobile-landscape=\"\" style=\"clear:both;display:block;\"><\/div>[vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">88% of respondents say managing compliance is &#8220;fairly easy&#8221; or &#8220;very easy.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">68% say they no longer worry about compliance complexity because technology has removed the burden.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">But\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">over a third are still relying on manual processes<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0for critical tasks like licence and qualification checks and vehicle maintenance records. 22% cite an overreliance on paperwork as a top reason\u00a0they&#8217;re\u00a0considering leaving the industry altogether.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The same pattern shows up in cyber security.\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">49% of respondents are worried about a cyberattack<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0on their organisation. Only\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">41% feel fully prepared<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to face one. Confidence in day-to-day compliance\u00a0doesn&#8217;t\u00a0always extend to data security.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;How is technology improving fleet safety in Australia?&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h4|text_align:left|color:%23152644&#8243; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;]<div class=\"ult-spacer spacer-6a88bee8a76df\" data-id=\"6a88bee8a76df\" data-height=\"10\" data-height-mobile=\"10\" data-height-tab=\"10\" data-height-tab-portrait=\"\" data-height-mobile-landscape=\"\" style=\"clear:both;display:block;\"><\/div>[vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">81% of fleet operators say technology is essential<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to keeping drivers safe.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">83% say advances in technology have made drivers feel safer<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0on the road than they did five years ago.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Camera technology is leading the charge. <strong>100%<\/strong> of respondents use cameras in some capacity, with an average of <strong>two to three<\/strong>\u00a0per vehicle. <strong>99%<\/strong> say in-cab cameras have improved driver performance.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">85% say\u00a0<\/span><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microlise.com\/au\/fleet-management\/fleet-compliance-and-safety\/ai-distraction-cameras\/\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">AI distraction cameras<\/span><\/b><\/a><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0have prevented a serious accident<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, showing the return fleets are seeing on this investment.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Beyond cameras, operators point to ADAS and active vehicle systems (16%), multi-camera systems (16%), daily vehicle defect checks (15%) and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microlise.com\/au\/fleet-management\/fleet-telematics\/fleet-tracking\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">telematics<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microlise.com\/au\/fleet-management\/fleet-telematics\/fleet-driver-performance\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">driver behaviour monitoring<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0(14%) as having the greatest impact on driver safety.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Technology isn&#8217;t only protecting drivers physically.
