Tata Motors and Microlise Celebrate 100,000th Tata Fleetman Telematics Connection

Senior executives from Tata Motors and Microlise have celebrated the 100,000th Tata Fleetman vehicle telematics connection and the strong collaboration between the British and Indian companies.

During the ceremony Guenter Butschek, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Motors Worldwide, was presented with a commemorative trophy to celebrate the accomplishment by Microlise Executive Director – Product Strategy, Matthew Hague.

Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has been working closely with British telematics and transport technology company Microlise on the rollout of a next generation telematics solution since 2014.

The multi-million pound agreement has seen Microlise supplying Tata Motors with in-vehicle hardware and a web-based portal to allow customers to manage their transport fleets securely, safely and efficiently; whilst reducing costs and environmental impact.

Tata Fleetman telematics applications and services include real time vehicle tracking, in-vehicle panic alarms, driver assessment and vehicle health management tools. Fleet operators can also manage trips and review performance with SMS and email alerts, as well as through detailed reports online and via a mobile app.

The 100,000 vehicle milestone marks significant progress as the two companies aim to transform India’s commercial transport industry with specialist fleet telematics.

Microlise, which has a regional headquarters in Pune Maharashtra, has annual turnover in excess of £50m and is going through a period of rapid expansion, both in its domestic UK market where it works with 13 of the UK’s 15 largest retailers, and internationally. Its products are designed to help fleet operators to improve safety, reduce operating costs and limit environmental impact, whilst maximising efficiency.

Earlier this year Microlise was awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade.

Nadeem Raza, Chief Executive Officer at Microlise, congratulated efforts at both Microlise and Tata Motors: “Well done to both teams for taking Tata Fleetman from concept, to one of the largest telematics deployments in India, in just a few years. We’re enormously proud to see our products playing a major role in the digital transformation of one of the fastest growing transport markets on the planet.”

About Tata Fleetman
Tata Motors is the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in the country, and Tata Fleetman is its telematics service. It does all a telematics system can do, yet it holds out a bigger promise. The OE fitment of telematics units on the vehicle at the time of production ensures better integration with the vehicle systems. This enhances the reliability as well as the life of the Telematics units.

Additionally, there exists the potential of combining telematics with different vehicular systems like engine management system, fuel delivery system, transmission system, etc. to launch telematics applications in fuel management, prognostics and diagnostics.

Tata FleetMan also leverages the nationwide reach of Tata Motors dealer network to offer its services in all corners of the country. With Tata FleetMan, owners and operators of Tata vehicles have an additional tool in their hands for managing their fleet in a productive and profitable way.
