Installation Engineer
The Installation team within the Microlise Operations department is looking to recruit an installation engineer to support in-vehicle system project related activities as directed by the Team Leader.
The engineer will be involved at all points of a project including the initial specification, surveying and installation. This will include gaining a thorough understanding of project and customer requirements by carrying out the necessary site visits and surveys to ensure a suitable vehicle solution is provided.
Duties will include:

Conducting surveys of vehicles for installation of vehicle tracking systems, ancillaries and other technologies as required

Writing up survey findings

Creating part lists for installation visits

Scheduling survey and installation visits
-
Carrying out vehicle installation activities

Scheduling 3rd party installers where necessary

Updating and maintaining accurate information on the various company systems

Supervising installation teams comprising of Microlise employees and/or subcontractors

The undertaking of and/or assistance in the investigation of problems and issues with installations or other work.

Technical support for on site engineers
Core Skills required:
-
Experience in the installation of vehicle ancillary equipments on commercial vehicles and cars

General engineering skills, i.e. soldering, drilling, metal cutting, cable termination

Experience in the use of electronic test equipment

Current full driving license

Good knowledge of using laptops and PCs in a general engineering diagnostics environment
Desirable skills:

Knowledge of CANbus/FMS bus interfacing

RF systems installation; installation of data cabling, mounting and testing units/antennas for wireless systems

IPAF certificate
-
Passport to Safety certified

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Some knowledge of SQL would also be beneficial
The successful candidate must be self motivated and able to work independently or within a team environment. A mature professional attitude with good organisational, interpersonal and customer facing skills and a flexible attitude to working hours are essential. The work involves UK-wide and occasional European travel, some weekend or night work may be expected and overnight stays will be required and may be a regular occurrence.
