Transport Management Centre

TMCThe Microlise Transport Management Centre (TMC) simplifies the management of journeys, routes or trips to help ensure optimum resource usage, productivity & customer service. The Transport Management Centre supports either the importing of routes from Routing & Scheduling products, or the building and management of fixed routes within the TMC.

The operation can then allocate drivers and trucks to planned routes to monitor in real-time, the execution of these routes. This enables the transport office & customer service staff alike to understand the status of their routes and overall fleet performance, thereby managing trips solely by exception. This also enhances a companies customer service offering by automatically pre advising customer’s or sites of impending arrivals or, conversely, any forecast delays.

Additionally, the TMC also allows the user to readily access Proof of Delivery and exception information. The TMC module allows drivers to be debriefed against delivery and schedule exceptions. Microlise’s Business Intelligence module, uses all of this tactical information to support the customer in making informed strategic decisions around planning rules, delivery windows, fleet mix & location.

Electronic-Traffic-Sheet The Electronic Traffic Sheet (ETS)
Allows you to manage all routes, be they fixed routes, created and managed within the TMC, or imported from a 3rd party routing and scheduling package and the resource either manually or automatically allocated to them

Provides a real-time view of vehicle / driver progress against a route. This, in turn, provides the user with estimated time of arrivals (ETA) and actual time of arrivals (ATA), against the original schedule’s Planned Time of Arrival (PTA). The system can be configured to flag either late or early running not only against the planned time window, but also any applied tolerances, which in turn can then be used by Customer Services to contact a customer or to automatically send SMS alerts or, often in the case of retail distribution, update arrival and departure boards in traffic offices and back of store alike.
journey-planner Active Journey Planner
Not all Routing & Scheduling packages are practical to use in the event of last minute changes or changes that occur en-route. Microlise developed the Active Journey Planner to allow a user to change trip start times, re-sequence drops, cancel jobs and move jobs between routes. The point to point route engine built into the Microlise TMC and Map Client then rebuilds the new trip sequence and flags which drops will still be in tolerance and which will not. Routes can then be updated accordingly.

The Microlise TMC has a range of standard XML data interfaces, by which data can be imported & exported into the TMC, Microlise charge a flat fee for creating any interface, whereby we transpose data from a customer’s 3rd party system – alternatively, the customer’s own IT team can do this work if required. Messages can be sent to and received from drivers, vehicles and groups via the both the Transport Management Centre and Map Client.
arrivals&departures Arrivals & Departures Boards and Pre-Advice
Each time a tracked vehicle reports in, the point to point routing engine built into the Microlise system calculates the time, based on the most likely route to the next planned drop. On-line Arrivals boards are updated to this effect. Departure boards can also show the planned and estimated time of departure based upon the same data, be it at a store or when departing a Distribution Centre at the start of a trip. The same system is used to automatically create SMS messages to customer mobile phones in home delivery operations, as an example.
mgt-console Business Intelligence Reports and Management Console
The Microlise Business Intelligence module is an OLAP Data warehouse accompanied by a suite of web reports, which can be used “out of the box”, customised by the user or interrogated by the user’s own business analysis or Management Information System. Microlise’s Management Console uses the same web framework to provide a, user configurable, graphical snap-shot to management of delivery and fleet status – for example trips on time, trips late, trips departed late, trips forecast back late, number of failed deliveries, number of partial deliveries and so on.
driver-debrief The online driver debrief
Takes the data being built up during the execution of a route and automatically creates a scorecard of driver performance against ranked & weighted criteria (defined by the user) some of which includes; Route / mileage adherence (planned versus actual); driving style and delivery & customer service performance. If a driver scores over a certain number of points on a route, the traffic office will then step the driver through each route, the traffic office will then steer the driver through each infringement and capture a reason. These reason codes are pulled through into strategic / trend reports so that the operation can drill down and analyse why certain fleet & delivery performance trends are emerging.

When used in conjunction with the Transport Management Centre, the Microlise Map Client also supports Journey based views and playbacks.
