Meet Richard Thorpe, Senior Sales Account Manager

As a sales account manager, Richard’s job is to be a single, knowledgeable point of contact for customers as they implement, upgrade and make the most of the Microlise technology installed in their fleet.

A veteran of the transport and telematics industry Richard understands what’s important to transport operators and new to the team, he is bringing his knowledge and expertise. We sent him a few questions to find out how he is getting on in his new role here at Microlise.

How long have you worked at Microlise?
4 months

What’s your job title?
Senior Sales Account Manager

What’s your background?
I’ve been working in the telematics industry for the last decade, initially in customer service, progressing to project management and then account management. This means I have a great understanding of the industry and what companies are looking to achieve through the rollout of telematics solutions. I’ve worked with many fleets, large and small, and am glad I can bring that experience to Microlise.

What does your job entail?
On a day to day basis I work with several accounts to develop relationships with them and help them to maximise their returns from the Microlise product portfolio. It’s important that we have a good understanding of what they are trying to achieve, and that they understand what our product is capable of. I work to ensure we meet expectations.

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
The best thing is seeing our solutions in action at my customers. It’s great when you see the customer benefiting, whether that be by reducing costs or helping them to deliver a better service to their end customers.

Best thing about working at Microlise?
I have only been here a short time, but it’s clear that Microlise has a great culture. There is also so much expertise and experience here, which means there is always someone to call upon when needed.

Do you have any hobbies?
My two kids keep me busy on weekends, when we spend as much time outdoors as we can.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
The power of healing, just think how much good could be done with this.

What about the Future?
Although early in my time at Microlise I have found it easy to settle in and am looking forward to working with my customers to build on the positive work done to date.
